Legal Notice
In Namibia, an architect’s professional status is protected by Law through the Architects & Quantity Surveyors Act (Act 13 of 1979). Only registered professionals can call themselves Architects. Registration is earned through a combination of academic qualifications, significant practical experience, and examination.
The Act reserves any building project larger than 500 square meters, or any public building for registered Architects. It is thus illegal for anyone who is not registered as a professional Architect with the Namibia Council for Architects and Quantity Surveyors NCAQS to work on public buildings and any building above 500 square meters.
Quality of Design
By choosing to engage with a registered Architect you are choosing to tap into a wealth of technical knowledge, skill, and creativity. Modern architectural practice uses cutting-edge technology and procedures to create buildings that will endure and reward you well into the future. This is all regulated and promoted the NCAQS and the Namibia Institute of Architects.
Professional Indemnity Insurance
Registered Architects carry a Professional Indemnity Insurance cover for any professional errors which may cause the client a financial loss. This is a legal requirement for an Architect in order to practice, and ensures the client is covered and that there is professional liability holding the professional to account. Should any errors occur that point back to the Architect, the client may claim for damages against the Architects PI cover.
