Student BLOX is a densification proposal for a 1,900 m² single residential erf adjacent to the university in Windhoek West. The project transforms the site into a four-block housing scheme designed for students and young professionals, responding to the growing demand for compact, well-located urban accommodation.

The architectural strategy works pragmatically with the sloping terrain by lifting the building blocks from the lower site level. This approach allows the ground plane to remain partially open, creating shaded green spaces beneath and between the buildings while also accommodating portions of the required parking. The scheme therefore maximises the development potential of the erf without completely sacrificing landscape, permeability, or communal outdoor space.

The residential units are organised as outward-facing shared rooms with Juliet balconies, allowing for light, ventilation, and visual connection to the surrounding suburb. These rooms are linked to shared kitchens, living areas, and circulation spaces, encouraging collective living while maintaining a degree of privacy. The layout also allows for future adaptability, with the blocks capable of being reconfigured for alternative users, including young families or other forms of compact urban housing.
